Anti-Bullying and Anti-Harassment Policy

 
1. Purpose and Scope At Volt Fire & Security, we are committed to providing a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for our employees, clients, and community. This Anti-Bullying and Anti-Harassment Policy outlines our stance on preventing and addressing bullying, harassment, and inappropriate behaviour in the workplace and during interactions with clients on residential and commercial sites. It applies to all employees, contractors, and representatives who engage with our company or represent our brand in any capacity.
2. Policy Statement Volt Fire & Security has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of bullying, harassment, or discrimination. We are committed to fostering a workplace and service environment free from intimidation, fear, and hostility. We expect all employees to treat each other, our clients, and the general public with respect and professionalism, regardless of location.
3. Definitions
  • Bullying: Repeated, unreasonable behaviour directed towards an individual or group that can lead to mental, emotional, or physical harm. This includes verbal, physical, and non-verbal behaviours that are intimidating, demeaning, or offensive.
  • Harassment: Unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic (such as age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or disability) that violates a person’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment. This can occur both in-person and online.
  • Discrimination: Treating someone less favourably because of their protected characteristics, including age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and disability.
4. Examples of Bullying and Harassment Unacceptable behaviours that may be considered bullying or harassment include, but are not limited to:
  • Verbal abuse, derogatory remarks, and name-calling.
  • Intimidation or threatening behaviour.
  • Spreading malicious rumours or false information.
  • Inappropriate physical contact or assault.
  • Making offensive comments about race, gender, sexuality, or other personal attributes.
  • Humiliation or mocking, either in person or on digital platforms.
5. Responsibilities
For Employees and Contractors
  • Treat everyone with respect, regardless of the setting.
  • Avoid engaging in any form of behaviour that could be perceived as bullying or harassment.
  • Act professionally in all client interactions, whether in homes, businesses, or in other settings.
For Management and Supervisors
  • Lead by example and foster an inclusive, respectful work environment.
  • Respond promptly to any reports of bullying or harassment.
  • Ensure all team members understand this policy and their role in upholding it.
6. Reporting Procedure Any individual who experiences or witnesses bullying or harassment should report the incident as soon as possible. Reporting options include:
  • Direct Supervisor: Employees and contractors are encouraged to report to their immediate supervisor.
  • Human Resources: For matters requiring discretion or in cases where a supervisor is unavailable, employees may report incidents to the HR department at info@voltfireandsecurity.co.uk
  • Anonymous Reporting: Reports may also be submitted anonymously via info@voltfireandsecurity.co.uk
All reports will be treated seriously and investigated promptly while maintaining confidentiality where possible.
7. Investigation Process Upon receiving a report, Volt Fire & Security will:
  1. Conduct a fair, thorough, and objective investigation, respecting the privacy of all involved parties.
  2. Gather statements from individuals involved and any witnesses.
  3. Determine whether the behaviour constitutes bullying, harassment, or a policy violation.
8. Disciplinary Actions If an investigation confirms bullying or harassment, Volt Fire & Security will take disciplinary action, which may include:
  • Verbal or written warnings.
  • Suspension or termination of employment or contract.
  • Reporting to external authorities, where appropriate.
9. Protection Against Retaliation Volt Fire & Security prohibits any form of retaliation against individuals who report bullying or harassment in good faith. Retaliatory actions are subject to disciplinary measures.
10. Training and Education All employees, contractors, and management will receive regular training on recognising, preventing, and responding to bullying and harassment. New hires will be oriented on this policy upon joining the company.
